He was born in New Jersey and some say raised by ‘The Sopranos’ near the New Jersey Turnpike... Maybe not. The reality of Adams’ life is ever vague, though if half of what he claims is true, his life is the stuff of a modern Epic poem. The son of a photographer and a painter, Adams learned at an early age to incorporate both medium into his work. He served in the Marines in the early 60s, and subsequently relocated to New Orleans during the hippie influx of 1968.
In addition to painting, Amzie was an artist for the underground newspaper Nola Express, is a poet, philosopher, an actor, photographer, and a filmmaker. He frequently plays the dulcimer in his band Spiritwalker, which can be seen regularly throughout the French Quarter and Marigny.
His work has been sold in art galleries all over the world, and is the pride of many private collections.
